Cathy Hummels wants to send a message – and angers her followers

In a post on Instagram, Cathy Hummels wants to explain why her son Ludwig will no longer be seen on social media in the future. But instead of understanding, the 35-year-old mainly receives criticism.

Cathy Hummels recently explained in a post on Instagram that she no longer wanted to show her five-year-old son Ludwig on social networks. “Ludwig may no longer be clearly visible when it comes to my and dad’s Instagram channel in the future. He may not always have to take photos like dad and mom do. His decision, which will of course be respected,” wrote the 35-year-old. In a new Instagram posting, Hummels now wants to explain this decision in more detail, but the post is met with incomprehension by many of her followers.

Hummels begins her comment by noticing “how difficult and stressful social media can be.” “I’m an adult and notice how this feeling of performing regularly influences me and often leads me to give in to the urge to share beautiful moments. I’ve always been extroverted, I want to take other people with me and motivate them. (…) Just because I like to present “It doesn’t mean that my son has the same hobby,” she continues.

She explains again that her son Ludwig will no longer be seen with his face on Instagram in the future and comes to the conclusion: “Children don’t belong on social media and we as parents have responsibility for them. We have to protect our children and Don’t put yourself on display in front of ‘strangers’ people.”

Cathy Hummels received a lot of criticism for her Instagram posting

Instead of encouragement, Cathy Hummels receives mainly critical comments from numerous users. Many people cannot understand that it took her five years to realize that her son should not be portrayed on social networks. They are particularly bothered by the photo that Hummels included in her post: She published a private picture that shows her breastfeeding her son after the birth in the hospital.

Some followers accuse the moderator of using the image to gain attention at the expense of her son – even though she writes about wanting to keep him out of social networks. Above all, Hummels’ sentence: “How would we feel if intimate moments from our childhood could be found online today?” offends many people. “If you have that opinion, then why such a private photo? He’s sucking on your breast – that’s very intimate. Your son will find that on the Internet forever,” comments one user.

Cathy Hummels ends her article with the words: “My rethinking was and is a journey, a process. You can learn a lot from ‘mistakes'” and announces a second article on her thoughts about social media. Maybe she’ll use a photo without her son Ludwig.
