Paris: After criticism: Dwayne Johnson back in the wax museum

Starting with the skin color: Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson was not at all happy with his wax figure in the Musée Grévin in Paris. There was also plenty of criticism online.

After ridicule and criticism, Dwayne Johnson’s revised sculpture can be seen again in the traditional Paris wax museum. The wax doppelganger had to be reworked because “The Rock”, the ring name of the American-Canadian performer, was not satisfied with the result.

On Instagram, the Hollywood star (“Fast & Furious”) asked the museum to make improvements, starting with his skin color. With a winking emoji, he added: Next time he’s in Paris he’ll come over and have a drink with him. The 51-year-old is the son of African-Canadian wrestler Wayde Bowles.

The Musée Grévin removed the sculpture from the visitors’ course on Monday evening. According to information from the museum, they worked day and night on a darker complexion. The 51-year-old showed a lot of humor through everything. He posted a video of entertainer James Andre Jefferson Jr. on his Instagram profile: He says it looks like “The Rock” has never seen the sun. He would look like the English football star David Beckham and like a member of the royal family.

The museum also received ridicule online: “The Rock” looked as if he had liver failure, said one comment, while another compared the wax figure with his crossed arms to the household cleaner “Meister Proper”. The sculpture was inaugurated on October 16th.

The Grévin Museum, which welcomes around 800,000 visitors a year and features more than 250 celebrities, had already caused a stir in 2018 when it presented what it said was a less than successful sculpture of French President Emmanuel Macron. Making a wax figure takes up to six months and costs between 50,000 and 60,000 euros.
