Elena knows what it’s about
Elena searches for the person responsible for the sudden death of her daughter Rita. Not getting answers, it is she who, even suffering from terminal Parkinson’s, embodies the investigation. To get help from an old friend of her daughter’s, she embarks on a train journey from the suburbs to the capital. In search of the truth, inevitable memories of her will confront her with the mother she was.
The film, based on the novel of the same name by Claudia Pineirobrings together a talented local women’s team, both in front of and behind the camera: directed by Anahi Berneriwho also wrote the adaptation with Gabriela Larraldeproduction of Vanessa Ragoneand a great cast headed by Mercedes Morán and Erica Rivasaccompanied by their daughters Mey Scapola and Miranda de la Serna.
In the words of Anahi Berneri about this new film: “In Elena Knows I address motherhood again, this time at the moment when the roles of dependency are reversed and we must take care of our mothers. Elena investigates who killed her daughter, Rita. Parkinson’s barely allows her to raise her head to look into the eyes of those she interrogates. She needs to know… even if she is faced with the ghosts of her. Adapting Claudia Piñeiro’s novel was an enormous challenge that resulted in a thriller, a family drama and also a fantastic film.”
