Poesítame, the new work by Romina Palestini, arrives

The poet Romina Palestini once again presents a poetry text, the fourth with her signature, with a series of poems that have a unique art under her pen. With a tribute to the essayist Santiago Kovadloff among her writings, this new installment is a completely renewed work by the writer.

Poesítame is a book that can be torn apart like artichoke leaves. From the hardness of dark green to the heart of light green. The book, like the artichoke, has a unique flavor: it offers the trivial art of the pencil and paper poet, it creates an ark of unparalleled creatures, it has grandmothers who respond, it chooses books and quotes to listen to and peppers life with feminine sensuality.

“Poetry me with fencing in a thrust to the heart where your eagle sword eye caresses my muslin ankles. Poesítame, kite weather vane flying around me like hippos in the ears avalanche; without restriction, on my daisy hair. Poesítame the alcaucilas, poetítame in the elevator, poesítame navy blue, poesítame the feet, poesítame Poe’s cat”, declaims the poem that bears the title of the book.

This work, in addition to bringing together central aspects of Palestini’s life such as his family, his childhood, his neighborhood, his view of women and his intimate relationship with reading, literature and poetry, exposes his admiration for one of the most recognized writers in Argentina such as Santiago Kovadloff.

In the book, the poem Santiago invites us to imagine how they met, the respect for his figure, her appreciation of the man and writer who for many years accompanied her in her literary and poetic training.

Palestini suggests that each verse that enters the reader’s mouth concludes the action of poeticizing with his or her eyes. The words of this anthology were born like fireflies from the ankles to spilling hippos from the ears that dress with the letters of each poem.

Edited by El Cuento de Never Finish, Poesítame completes the writer’s fourth installment. In 2018 she published the book of poems Mirada de Limón and other owl poems; while in 2022 she consolidated her pen with High flight and other owl poems and Versítame.
