Like every year, the World Cheese Awards they choose the best cheese producers of 43 countries worldwide. In the contest – in which more than four thousand varieties– The jury, made up of experts, buyers and gastronomic experts, decides which ones will be awarded the “cheese Oscar award“.

This year, the winner – who came in first place in the top 10– was a Norwegian cheese called Nidelven Blåwhich has already received other international awards, and, according to tasters, stands out for its texture, short creaminess, very dense sweetness and slight bitterness.

However, several Argentine representatives came to participate in the competition, and one of them got a gold medal. I know which one was chosen.

The Argentines who participated in the tournament

The Argentine cheese that won a gold medal is produced by the Ventimiglia Cheese Factory in Black riverand it is a Saint Maureen with 45 days of tuning. This year was the first time that the business participated in the competition, and they managed to win great recognition.

At the same time, the cheese factory also obtained a silver medal for its 4 Corners cheese; and two bronze medals for a cheese goat and a blue cheese made with cow’s and sheep’s milk.

Other Argentine producers who participated were Mastellone and Migue Cheeseswho won bronze medals for several of their products.
