The 55-year-old appears relaxed and happy. Late last year, she revealed that she had been diagnosed with stiff person syndrome, a rare neurological disorder that causes severe muscle spasms. “Unfortunately, these spasms affect every aspect of my daily life, sometimes causing difficulty walking and not allowing me to use my vocal cords to sing the way I’m used to,” Dion said in a video she shared. A few months ago, her sister Claudette Dion said in an interview with the Journal de Montréal: “We can’t find any medicine that works, but it’s important to have hope.” They are working with “the best researchers in this field,” but so far without success. “I honestly think that most of all she needs to rest. She’s always pushing herself, she’s always trying to be the best in her field. At a certain point your heart and your body are trying to tell you something. It is important to listen to it,” says Claudette Dion.
