Rapper Missy Elliott will be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Even her mother comes to this ceremony.
Hip-hop icon Missy Elliott (52, “Get Ur Freak On”) says she has never taken her mother to one of her concerts. “My mom has never seen me perform,” the rapper explained on “Good Morning America.” “She’s seen me on TV, but she’s never been to a show because I said a few little words that I didn’t want her to ever hear.”
This Friday, the rapper will officially be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame as the first female rapper ever. Then it will be the first time that her mother will accompany her to a performance, explained the five-time Grammy award winner.
Missy Elliott is one of the most successful women in the male-dominated rap and hip-hop business. Their debut album “Supa Dupa Fly” came out in 1997, songs like “Get Ur Freak On”, “Work It”, “The Rain” and “All N My Grill” were big hits. She has also made a name for herself as a producer and label boss and has written songs for stars such as Christina Aguilera, Destiny’s Child, Pink, Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston.
