The director of the “Hunger Games” series is a big fan of the German capital. This is not the first time that Berlin has been the setting for popular science fiction films.
“Hunger Games” director Francis Lawrence loves filming in Berlin. “Berlin is a fantastic city,” said the 52-year-old at a press conference before the European premiere of the film “The Hunger Games – The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes.” “We got the locations we needed here.” A large part of the film was shot in Germany. In addition to Berlin, Cologne and Duisburg were also used as filming locations.
The film from the well-known science fiction series “The Hunger Games” takes place 64 years before the events of the previous four films. Lawrence directed three films in the original Hunger Games series. The last part, “The Hunger Games – Mockingjay Part 2,” was released eight years ago.
The new prequel is based on the novel “The Hunger Games X – A Song of the Bird and the Serpent” by the author of the Hunger Games book series, Suzanne Collins. The film will be released in German cinemas on November 16th.
