What an honor for Boy George (62): When the British singer once met boxing legend Muhammad Ali (1942-2016), he gave him a surprising compliment. According to George, Ali told him: “You’re a very beautiful boy.” The musician now shared this memory on British television. Boy George once met the athlete in a London nightclub, a few years before his breakthrough as a singer.
“We had a picture of Muhammad Ali next to a picture of the Pope,” says the 62-year-old. “That’s how important it was in our family.” The “Karma Chameleon” singer smuggled his way past security and was totally excited. “I said, ‘Oh my God, my dad loves you. We have a picture of you on a mirror in our hallway,'” he tells host Norton on the show.
Muhammad Ali asked, “Are you a boy or a girl?”
Even back then, Boy George dressed up and attracted attention with his colorful outfits. When he met the boxing world champion, he asked him: “Are you a boy or a girl?” After the singer explained to him, Muhammad Ali replied: “You are a very beautiful boy.” The singer still admires the late boxer to this day.
