Federal Agriculture Minister Cem Özdemir (57, Alliance 90/The Greens) and his wife Pia Castro separated “amicably some time ago”. This is reported by various media outlets, citing a corresponding statement from the two. The former couple wanted to continue to look after their two children together as parents. The Green Party politician and the journalist, who comes from Argentina, married in 2003.

Cem Özdemir has had a stellar political career
Özdemir has been Federal Minister for Food and Agriculture since December 8, 2021. He entered the Bundestag for the first time after the 1994 election. In the 2021 federal election, he won the direct mandate for the Greens for the first time in the Stuttgart I constituency with 40.0 percent of the vote. From 2008 to 2018 he was also one of two federal chairmen of his party.
