“I’m so grateful for every moment I had with you.” Actors Courtney Cox and Matt LeBlanc say an emotional goodbye to their long-time actor colleague and friend Matthew Perry.
It’s been a good two weeks since the world lost a “friend”. After the sudden death of Matthew Perry, who was popular worldwide in the role of Chandler Bing, his “Friends” colleagues Matt LeBlanc and Courteney Cox have now publicly said goodbye. “I’m so grateful for every moment I had with you, Matty, and I miss you every day,” Cox wrote in an emotional post. Her role Monica Geller and Perry’s character Chandler Bing were the dream couple of the successful sitcom.
The beginning of a love story
“When you work with someone as closely as I did with Matthew, there are thousands of moments that I would love to share,” Cox explained in her post. “But here is one of my favorite moments.” The actress also shared a clip of a “Friends” scene that was a turning point in the series for Monica and Chandler. “Backstory: Chandler and Monica were supposed to have a one-night stand in London. But because of the audience’s reaction, it became the beginning of their love story,” Cox commented on the excerpt, which shows the series couple in a hotel bed. “In that scene, before we started shooting, he whispered a funny line for me to say. He did that a lot. He was funny and kind.”
Colleague Matt LeBlanc also said his last words to his friend: “Matthew, with a heavy heart I say goodbye,” the Joey Tribbiani actor began his emotional contribution. “The time we spent together was honestly one of the best times in my life.” It was an honor to share the stage with Perry and to call him a friend. “I will always smile when I think of you and I will never forget you. Ever. Spread your wings and fly brother, you are finally free.”
Matthew Perry died on October 28, 2023 at the age of 54. He was found dead in his home in Los Angeles. The funeral took place on November 3rd at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles. In addition to friends and family, Perry’s co-stars from the series also came. The main cast also included Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow and David Schwimmer.
