Jennifer Aniston says goodbye to her friend and colleague Matthew Perry with touching words.
Matthew Perry (1969-2023) died at the end of October at the age of 54. Now his “Friends” co-star Jennifer Aniston (54) has commented in detail for the first time. After the bad news became known, his colleagues initially stated in a joint statement that they wanted to get in touch at a later date.
Jennifer Aniston has experienced “an insane wave of emotions”.
“Oh man, that hit deep,” writes Aniston, which shows her behind the scenes of the cult series. Having to say goodbye to “our Matty” brought with it “an insane wave of emotions that I have never experienced before”.
Everyone has to go through losses in their life, be it because of love or a death. “The ability to truly dwell in that grief allows one to feel the moments of joy and gratitude for having loved someone so much. And we loved them deeply. […] It was always the six of us.” Aniston is referring to the main cast of “Friends” – in addition to her and Perry, they also include David Schwimmer (57), Lisa Kudrow (60), Courteney Cox (59) and Matt LeBlanc (56). Also Cox , LeBlanc and Schwimmer recently said goodbye on Instagram. Aniston describes the team as a “selected family.”
Matthew Perry loved making people laugh
Her “Matty” loved making people laugh. “As he said himself, he thought he would die if he didn’t hear the ‘laughter.’ His life literally depended on it. And boy, did he do just that. He made us all laugh.” She also recently had to “laugh, cry and then laugh again” about the text messages between the two. She never wanted to delete the messages and published one of them as an example. “Making you laugh made my day. It made my day,” Perry wrote. Aniston replied at the time: “Oh, the first of thousands of times…”
The actress concludes with the appropriate words: “Matty, I love you so much and I know that you are now completely at peace and no longer in pain. I talk to you every day. […] Rest, little brother. You always made my day…”
