Bushido with his Bambi
This Bambi still makes heads shake today: 2011 got Bushido Peter Maffay presented the trophy in the “Integration” category. There was criticism even during the award ceremony. Peter Plate von Rosenstolz said in his own acceptance speech: “I don’t think it’s right to honor someone who has sung misogynistic, inhumane lyrics.” In protest, Heino gave back the Bambi he won in 1990. And four weeks after the award ceremony, Maffay also distanced himself from Bushido: “I had great hope that he would distance himself from his past and thus become a driving force for many others who listened to him. Unfortunately, I was wrong about him.”
