Auction: 75,000 euros for Lindenberg’s paintings and the Hamburg Arche

A large painting by Udo Lindenberg has brought in a lot of money for disadvantaged children and young people in Hamburg. At the same time, an important message is passed on.

The auction of a painting by panic rocker Udo Lindenberg (77) brought in tens of thousands of euros. The highest bid for the work of art “We are moving to peace” was 75,000 euros on Wednesday afternoon after the charity auction ended. The money will go to the Hamburg association Arche, which supports children and young people.

The Ark exists throughout Germany; in Hamburg the association is active in the districts of Jenfeld, Billstedt and Harburg. The facilities support the girls and boys over a long period of time, help in difficult life situations, offer lunch and dinner, space to play and do homework as well as clothes from the clothing store and much more. According to their own information, the three Hamburg Arches reach more than 1,200 girls and boys every year.

The 1.50 by 2.00 meter picture was last exhibited in the Federal Council in Berlin. Lindenberg himself described it as one of his most important works. At the center of the colorful picture on canvas is a large peace sign, which is composed of the painted heads of various people.

In addition to the title, the artwork contains sayings such as “Give Peace a Chance”, “Disarmament immediately!”, “People – Family” and “Love”. There are also the typical Lindenberg figures that hold champagne glasses in their hands or show the peace sign. “Our utopia, which must one day come true – the large human family that sticks together, across all continents, borders and cultures,” Lindenberg wrote about the picture on Instagram.
