For over 16 years, the popular journalist Anne Will (57) shaped national debates and discourses with the political talk named after her on Sunday evenings. From January 21st, her successor Caren Miosga (54) will take over Will’s slot on the first, while the television award winner enjoys her newfound freedom on Sunday evenings. “I like that Sunday is mine again. I thought it was nice that last week I was able to watch ‘Polizeiruf’ linearly while lying on the sofa,” reveals the 57-year-old.

According to Will, he is currently enjoying having more time to “watch and read more broadly and on a more independent basis”. Because during her time on “Anne Will” she was “focused on the respective topic of the show towards the end of the week”. “Sometimes I just didn’t have the time to read everything to the left and right of it.”
The former “Tagesthemen” and “Sportschau” presenter already has clear ideas about her professional future. “The journalist will come to the fore more strongly in what I do next than in my role as talk show host,” says Will in the conversation, without going into further detail for the time being. She is currently not planning to host another talk show again. This is currently “not the first thing” on her list.
At least two women as a rule
Looking back, the popular TV personality also reveals that it was always important to her on “Anne Will” to have “at least two women in the group,” not counting herself. However, the problem often arose that men “continue to be in the majority in decision-making and management functions”. “Let’s take the parties: With the FDP and CDU/CSU, unlike the Greens and SPD, you quickly reach the limits of wanting to invite female chairmen to a program,” says Will.
She fulfilled a dream about her guests on “Anne Will” in her last show. She had previously tried “for years to get Navid Kermani on the show, who had actually never been on a talk show.” But on December 3rd last year the time had come. The writer and journalist was a guest in the studio. “His first appearance on my last show – I was really happy about it,” said Will.
