True Detective: Night Land is the fourth season of the acclaimed suspense and thriller series.

The Serie True Detective: Night Landstarring the Academy Award-winning and Emmy-nominated Jodie Foster and Kali Reispremiered on Sunday, January 14 on HBO and HBO Max and has already revealed a connection with the first season starring Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson.

Issa Lopez took the helm as showrunner, head writer and director. Although the installment is shorter, with only six episodes, many consider it as good as the first.

What True Detective: Night Land is about

As the long winter night falls in Ennis, Alaska, the eight men who operate the Tsalal Arctic Research Station disappear without a trace. To solve the case, detectives Liz Danvers (Foster) and Evangeline Navarro (Reis) will have to confront the darkness within and delve into the enchanted truths that lie buried beneath the eternal ice.

What is the connection between seasons 1 and 4 of True Detective

The connection with the first season has been confirmed since the HBO production, generating speculation among fans. Issa López revealed that Travis Cohle, the father of Rust Cohle (McConaughey), from the original season, is linked to the Night Land plot. Additionally, iconic elements such as the spiral and The Tuttle Corp.’s funding of a scientific laboratory are intertwined, recalling the cult leaders in the first season. It should also be remembered that in the first season, Rust Cohle even mentioned that he used to live in Alaska with his father, who had leukemia.
