Foundation and concealer can enhance your natural beauty. But how do you use the two make-up products correctly?
Foundation and concealer: Two cosmetic products that can give the face an even look and a natural radiance. But both foundation and concealer have individual advantages. A little know-how in this area ensures more competence when applying make-up: What is the difference between foundation and concealer? And what advantages do they have?
When should you use foundation?
A primer is a make-up product that is applied to the entire face and is intended to improve the overall appearance of the skin. Foundations are available in all shades and in different versions: liquid, creamy or powdery.
Makeup experts recommend applying foundation with a damp sponge or beauty blender. This gives the skin an even and natural look. The foundation can also be applied just as easily with a make-up brush or your fingers. When buying a foundation, you should also make sure that it is suitable for your individual skin type. For example, dry skin needs more moisturizing ingredients than oily or combination skin.
When should you use concealer?
Unlike a foundation, a concealer is a makeup product designed to cover specific areas of the face. Concealer is often applied under the eyes or to cover dark spots or blemishes such as pimples on the face. Concealers are available in both liquid and cream consistency. By applying it partially, a concealer also ensures a visually more even complexion.
You can use brushes and sponges as well as your fingers to apply concealer. It’s best to gradually find out for yourself which method suits you best. In general, when buying a concealer, you should make sure that it is a moisturizing product. Since concealer is often applied over skin imperfections, you should use valuable ingredients to prevent the effect that the applied concealer further dries out the already irritated skin.
Foundation or concealer – which is better?
When used correctly, both are very useful make-up products that can be easily combined with each other in your daily make-up routine. Basically, you should only apply the concealer after the foundation. Because it gives the make-up the finishing touch and can cover slight redness or dark circles under the eyes that have not yet disappeared with the foundation.
