Olaf Scholz: Chancellor meets his doppelganger

Did Olaf Scholz travel to the USA with a doppelganger? Of course not: Senator Chris Coons and the Chancellor just look very similar.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz (65, SPD) is currently in the United States of America and met his doppelgänger in the capital, Washington. On the sidelines of his meeting with members of Congress, he ran into Democratic US Senator Chris Coons (60) from Delaware, who has surprising similarities to Scholz. Of course, this was also noticed by the two politicians, who were immediately available to take pictures for the photographers, grinning from ear to ear.

one of the snapshots and wrote about the picture: “Great to see my doppelganger again – Chris Coons.” (in German something like: “Nice to see my doppelganger Chris Coons again”). and surprisingly asked his followers in German: “Who is who?”

Olaf Scholz and Chris Coons already met in 2021. Scholz was still in his role as finance minister under then-Chancellor Angela Merkel (69) on a visit to Washington. Even then, the two took photos together and noticed their visual similarities. Observers agreed that the two could be twins. Incidentally, they also share a similar professional path: both are trained lawyers and then went into politics. Coons is currently supporting incumbent US President Joe Biden (81) in his election campaign for a second term in office.

Olaf Scholz also meets Joe Biden

Olaf Scholz is currently campaigning in Washington for continued financial and military aid from the USA for Ukraine, which is being attacked by Russia. A meeting with US President Joe Biden is also on the agenda on Friday.
