Ingredients for the Dough:

  • 200g wheat flour
  • 100g cold butter, cut into cubes
  • 1 egg
  • 2-3 tablespoons of cold water

  • 2 Tuna cans in water, drained
  • 1 small onion chopped
  • 2 eggs
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Chopped fresh parsley (optional)


Preparation of the dough:

  • In a large bowl, mix the flour with the salt.
  • Add the cold butter and work the mixture with your hands or a dough cutter until a breadcrumb-like texture forms.
  • Add the egg and 2 tablespoons of cold water. Mix until the dough comes together. If necessary, add more water, one tablespoon at a time.
  • Form the dough into a ball, wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

Filling Preparation:

  • Preheat the oven to 180°C.
  • In a large bowl, mix the drained tuna with the chopped onion.
  • In another bowl, beat the eggs. Add salt and pepper to your liking.
  • Place the egg mixture over the tuna and onion. Add grated cheese if you wish.

Cake Assembly:

  • Take the dough out of the refrigerator and roll it out on a floured surface until you obtain a circle approximately 3-5 mm thick.
  • Line a greased tart pan with the stretched dough. Trim any excess dough overhanging the edge of the pan.
  • Place the tuna and egg mixture in the mold lined with dough.
  • Bake the tart in the preheated oven for approximately 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown and firm to the touch.
