Soccer star Svenja Huth (33) has resigned from the women’s national team. The 33-year-old, who played 88 international matches and scored 14 goals for Germany, said: “I look back on my 18 years as a national player with pride and humility. Together with the fans, we were able to celebrate great titles, but also get up together again after setbacks. ” She was happy that she was able to do her part to get her ticket to the Olympics.

Huth added in her statement: “However, the time was both physically and mentally challenging and exhausting, so I came to the decision to end my career in the national team.” Now she is looking forward to the tasks at the club, “a little more time at home with my family and hopefully a successful tournament for the girls,” said the VfL Wolfsburg player.

Svenja Huth celebrated victories at the European Championships and the Olympics

Svenja Huth became European champion with the women’s national team in 2013, among other things. The highlight of her career was the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, when Germany’s women won the gold medal.

Young talent for the football star

Svenja Huth became a mother last year. The footballer and her wife Laura had their first child together in September. The 33-year-old showed this on Instagram at the time. There she shared a photo of her wife and the baby’s little hand holding Huth.

It was announced in July that Svenja Huth and her wife Laura, who have been married since June 2022, would become parents.
