Disney+ and Star+ merger: what will the union of the platforms be like?

With the relaunch of Disney+, there will be new subscription plans that will allow each subscriber to choose the option that best suits their preferences.

The Walt Disney Company Latin America announced that on June 26, 2024, Disney+ will be relaunched and will expand its offering by adding general entertainment content from Star+ and the sport of ESPNto offer Disney+ subscribers a unique and unparalleled streaming experience that will give access to the Company’s content for all its audiences on the same platform.

All in one place

Starting with this relaunch, subscribers will be able to find the Company’s general entertainment proposal on Disney+ under a new Star section (including titles Searchlight, 20th Century Studios and FXand original productions created entirely in Latin America), as well as live events and the offer of ESPN, the most respected and recognized brand for sports fans in the region, under the new ESPN section; in addition to the series, movies and documentaries available in the sections of Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars and National Geographic.

Appropriate entertainment for each subscriber

Disney+ parental controls will ensure that the platform continues to be a suitable streaming experience for all members of the family. Subscribers will be able to create PIN-protected profiles and set access limits based on content rating for certain profiles.

New subscription plans

With this new integrated experience, different subscription alternatives will be provided so that subscribers can have maximum flexibility when choosing an option that suits their preferences and needs, and that more and more people can enjoy the wide catalog of content from The Walt Disney Company.

In this sense, starting June 26, consumers will be able to choose between three Disney+ subscription plans: Premium, Standard and Standard with Ads. The latter will initially be available only in Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, Chile and Colombia, to be integrated into commercial partner packages.

Details will be announced very soon, including features, prices and ways to access the new Disney+ plans.
