“Oppenheimer” director Christopher Nolan is to be knighted. Nolan is to become Knight Bachelor and his wife Emma Thomas is to become Dame Commander.
British-American director Christopher Nolan and his wife Emma Thomas are to be honored with a knighthood. This emerges from a statement from the British government. Nolan (53), who recently received an Oscar for the film “Oppenheimer”, will be promoted to Knight Bachelor, the oldest knighthood in Great Britain. Emma Thomas (52) is made Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire. In Great Britain, knighthoods and other honors are awarded by the royal family at the suggestion of the government.
The couple, who now have four children, met while studying at University College London (UCL). Together they founded the production company Syncopy, with which they produced a whole series of successful films. The historical drama about the “father of the atomic bomb”, the US physicist Robert Oppenheimer, with Cillian Murphy in the leading role, won a total of seven Oscars this year.
