British actress Hannah Waddingham reprimanded a photographer who behaved sexistly towards her at an event in London. She is celebrated online for this.
An incident on the sidelines of the Olivier Awards in London is causing a stir: British actress Hannah Waddingham hosted the renowned theater award on Sunday and was supposed to pose for photos in advance in front of the Royal Albert Hall. As a video circulating on “X” (formerly Twitter) shows, a photographer’s disrespectful behavior made her very angry.
“Oh my God, you would never say that to a man,” Waddingham is heard shouting. The other person’s statement cannot be heard, but Waddingham called on her to behave better or she would be gone straight away. “Just don’t say, ‘Show your leg!’ No!” she emphasized. But the photographer apparently continued to try to get away with his behavior, because Waddingham quickly stopped the photo shoot and ran away – visibly upset. “Have some decency,” she shouted.
Hannah Waddingham is hailed as a heroine
Waddingham, best known for her role as football club owner Rebecca Welton in the series “Ted Lasso”, is celebrated online for her decisive demeanor. “She’s just an icon,” “That’s right, Hannah!” or “I love that she reprimanded him and then left,” say the comments. Other posts illustrate how the whole thing would have worked on a male star: “Mr. Clooney, Mr. Clooney, here! Smile and roll up your pants, show us those sexy ankles!” commented one user aptly.
Despite the incident, Waddingham then confidently led through the Olivier Awards ceremony, which honors achievements in theater and musical productions. Among other things, the singer Nicole Scherzinger was awarded the prize for best actress in a musical. The former Pussycat Dolls frontwoman was on stage in London for the new edition of the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical “Sunset Boulevard”. The show was one of the big winners of the evening with seven prizes.
