Young, thin and white: A new documentary highlights how the fashion chain Brandy Melville discriminates against young girls. A look at German city centers shows that the brand is not the only teenage label with a dubious reputation.
In downtown Munich there have recently been two stores in front of which long queues can form on weekends: in front of Louis Vuitton and the store of the fashion chain Brandy Melville. In the latter, a shop on Sendlinger Strasse, young customers have not found expensive luxury bags since it opened in March, but they have found clothes that are highly coveted among teenagers: tight tops, ultra-short skirts, and occasionally shirts with a US flag Scattered flower pattern. They are not advertised in exclusive glossy magazines, but where young people hang out today: on social media.
