A tragedy, a woman in shock and a house apparently full of evil presences are the guaranteed combo to suffer a few scares.
Rarely are horror or suspense films considered good by specialized critics. And a lot of that has to do with some prejudices, but also with hackneyed ideas or performances that are difficult to believe. “The Dark House” by Star+ breaks with this and transforms it into one of those rarities of the genre.
The film is directed by a specialist in the subject: David Bruckner; who co-wrote and co-directed The Signal in 2007 and did the same with the anthology V/H/S. The big difference is that now it has the script of Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski, a duo that specializes in making screams on the big screen
And to all this is added the seamless performance of Rebecca Hallthe British who became world famous for her role in Vicky Cristina Barcelona of Woody Allen. Here he shines in almost all the scenes of the film that you can now enjoy on the streaming platform. The Walt Disney Company.

What The Dark House is about, a Star+ movie
Beth is an elementary school teacher, who just widowed, after Owen committed suicide. In a complete state of shock and depression, the woman played by Hall spends her nights drinking and going through her husband’s belongings. Although she tries to appear stable, her friend Claire and her neighbor Mel begin to detect that something strange is happening to her.
But that’s when you find the her husband’s suicide note when everything starts to lose sanity. “You were right. There is nothing. Nothing is chasing you. You are safe now.” Those few lines have the complete opposite effect on Beth, who begins to suffer strange events at night, ranging from nightmares, sleep paralysis and a strange inverted plane from his house.
From there, a search of her house, the memories of her marriage and the supernatural specters that haunt her every night, will begin to reveal a series of mysteries and terrible secrets.
