After press speculation about their wedding, Princess Märtha Louise and Durek Verrett only want to concentrate on their love.
On August 31st, the Norwegian Princess Märtha Louise wants to say yes to her partner, Durek Verrett. In September 2023, the palace announced some details about the wedding – for example, that it would take place in the town of Geiranger in western Norway. Most recently, the Norwegian tabloid “Se og Hør” revealed numerous other details, including the program, the dress code and the bans.
Märtha Louise and Durek Verrett “draw a line in the sand”
However, the information does not come from the bride and groom or the royal family themselves. Apparently one of the invited guests passed on his knowledge to the paper – a huge annoyance for Märtha Louise and her partner. “Today we draw a line in the sand,” announces the daughter of King Harald V and Queen Sonja.

“We know that parts of the press will increasingly spread lies about us as our wedding gets closer,” the 52-year-old continued. “As we prepare for our big day, we want to take care of each other, put our emotional well-being and our love for each other first.” The couple has therefore decided “that from this day on we will no longer comment on anything the press writes about us.”
“We are focused on creating a wedding that reflects the depth of our love and are filled with excitement and joy for the celebrations ahead,” it concluded.
Märtha Louise is annoyed by the reporting
Last week, Märtha Louise vented her anger at the Norwegian tabloid “Se og Hør” in an episode. In an episode lasting more than an hour, the princess spoke about interviews with her fiancé’s mother, who had accepted money for information to the press, as well as the leaked wedding invitation to the newspaper.
“People who are paid to talk about other people, like Durek’s mother, will tell the lies that the person who pays them wants to hear from him,” Märtha Louise also wrote on Instagram. “This type of journalism is intended solely to harm someone else and is highly unethical.” She asks her followers not to believe “what ‘Se og Hør’ says about Durek or me in the run-up to the wedding.” “I know from experience that it gets worse the closer we get to the wedding. It’s so sad that it has to be this way, because a wedding should be a joyful event for everyone involved. Even for us…”
Second marriage for Märtha Louise
Märtha Louise is the older sister of the Norwegian Crown Prince Haakon. From 2002 to 2017 she was married to the writer Ari Behn (1972-2019), and they had three daughters. Since 2018 she has been officially dating the American Durek Verrett, who works as a “shaman”. The couple has been engaged since 2022.
