A biopic about First Lady Brigitte Macron is in the works in France. Now Julia Roberts has been suggested as an actress.
Could Hollywood stars Julia Roberts (56) and Ryan Gosling (43) soon be seen on screen together as France’s presidential couple Emmanuel (46) and Brigitte Macron (71)? At least that’s what the former French Minister of Culture, Roselyne Bachelot (77), wants.
When discussing the upcoming biopic series about France’s “Première Dame” in the works at film studio Gaumont, “I immediately thought of Ryan Gosling because I think there is a physical resemblance between Emmanuel Macron and Ryan Gosling . And I thought about Julia Roberts too.”
Film studio wants to announce cast soon
In six episodes of 45 minutes each, the series entitled “Brigitte, une Femme Libre” (German: “Brigitte, a free woman”) will trace the life of the French presidential wife. The script was written by Bénédicte Charles and Olivier Pouponneau. Gaumont is still keeping the exact plot under wraps and the cast will be announced in the coming weeks.
Brigitte Macron’s life story at least offers plenty of material for a television series. The former teacher met Emmanuel Macron when she taught at a Catholic high school. Macron was a teenager at the time, 15 years old. Brigitte Macron was 40, married and mother of three children. At the age of 17, Emmanuel Macron fell in love with the teacher, who was 24 years his senior.
After divorcing her first husband, Brigitte married Emmanuel Macron, now 29, in October 2007. After a distinguished political career, he became President of France in 2017. Brigitte Macron left her job as a teacher this year to take on representative tasks as the president’s wife.
