Prince Louis, the “kamikaze child” of the British royal family, as his mother Kate once called him, turns six today. The palace was unusually late in publishing the picture.
The World Wide Web has been abuzz since the morning hours because there has been no birthday picture of Prince Louis on the royals’ social media channels. There was speculation that the royal family might break with the tradition of releasing a new picture on their children’s birthdays, but apparently they just let fans stew.
There had recently been a heated discussion about a family photo edited by Princess Kate, which is why there were already speculations by midday today as to whether there would be no further pictures initially. Not even today, the birthday of Prince Louis, the youngest son of Prince William and Princess Kate. In doing so they would have broken a small tradition.

But the palace posted a current photo of the little rascal shortly after one o’clock in the afternoon German time. Prince Louis is known in the royal family for playing pranks and making faces. In an interview, his mother once referred to him as her “kamikaze child.” He enjoys faxing at many British royal events. At Trooping The Color he made faces, at the Queen’s last birthday he stuck his tongue out at his mother and at Christmas last year he provocatively blew out his sister Charlotte’s candle in church.
The caption of the photo also reveals that the photographer is none other than his mother Kate, who is suffering from cancer and has often taken photos of the family, including the one that fell into disrepute. Next to the picture is written: “Happy sixth birthday, Prince Louis. Thank you for all the nice congratulations today.”
It is not known exactly how the family spends the youngest’s birthday. Presumably at home at Windsor Castle, where Princess Kate continues to recover from surgery and battle cancer. But it is obvious that his mother, Prince Louis, baked a cake herself, like every year.
