Actress Melanie Lynskey didn’t know she was engaged
According to her own statements, actress Melanie Lynskey only found out with her current husband’s family that he had asked for her hand in marriage. “My husband’s first proposal was so confusing,” the 46-year-old said on Jimmy Fallon’s “Tonight Show.” Lynskey is married to US actor Jason Ritter. Lynskey remembers the moment in 2016 like this: The couple sat on the sofa together and watched TV. Then Ritter paused the TV program and gave “this strange speech,” during which she occasionally wondered whether he was breaking up with her, Lynskey described. “I didn’t know what was happening.” He also gave her a ring, but she didn’t classify it as an engagement ring. Apparently Ritter skipped the part where he asks Lynskey if she wanted to marry him because, as she explained, she thought his words were just a “nice conversation.” “And then three days later we visited his family for Christmas and he said, ‘We’re engaged!’ – I asked: ‘Is that us?!” The actor couple, who also have a daughter together, married in 2020. “Since then he has been very sweet and he has proposed to me over and over again,” said Lynskey. Most recently, her husband asked for her hand in marriage again for her birthday. The New Zealander had her first film role in the mid-nineties alongside Kate Winslet in the film “Heavenly Creatures” by director Peter Jackson. Lynskey was last seen in the US series “The Last of Us”.
