The Dane’s new film “King’s Land” will soon be in German cinemas. In conversation he remembers a previous collaboration with superstar Rihanna.
Actor Mads Mikkelsen is a big fan of pop musician Rihanna. The 58-year-old starred in the music video for her song “Bitch Better Have My Money” (2015) a few years ago.
The Dane said in an interview with the German Press Agency that he doesn’t listen to that much music, not even by Rihanna. “But when I hear her, she blows me away. I think she’s very talented.” She was “absolutely hilarious and funny and so sweet” when working together. “For that reason alone, I’m a huge Rihanna fan.”
Mikkelsen’s new film “King’s Land” will soon be in German cinemas (releases June 6th). In the historical drama by Nikolaj Arcel he plays the main role of a soldier named Ludvig Kahlen, who lives in Denmark in the 18th century. He wants to make the wild heath of Jutland fertile for the king in order to get a noble title. But he has to fight against numerous obstacles.
It is important for Mikkelsen to take breaks between his film projects. Then he devotes himself to other things: “Personally, I play sports, a lot of sports, and I like building things,” he said. “And then I have a family. And of course that’s the reason why I want to live. So I spend time with them.”
