A new delivery of “The Lord of the rings”one of the biggest film franchises of all time, will be released in theaters in 2026.
It is one of two new films in the saga announced on Thursday by David Zaslav, executive president of Warner Bros Discovery.

The films are based on the books written by JRR Tolkien and are set in Middle Earth, a fictional territory inhabited by humans, elves, dwarves and hobbits.
The previous films in the franchise have grossed almost $6 billion at the worldwide box office. The 2003 film, “The Return of the King,” won 11 Oscars, including best picture.
An animated “Lord of the Rings” film, titled “War of the Rohirrim,” will be released in theaters in December.
