Pop singer Mark Forster (“Choirs”, “194 Countries”) believes that the home European Championships in the summer could bring society together again a little. “If you can just turn off your head for a moment, be happy about goals for four weeks and celebrate with your friends from all over Europe, then it can do something good,” said the 41-year-old to the German Press Agency. He wrote his new song “If you call me” for ARD’s EM coverage. He should invoke cohesion and optimism.
Forster, a fan of the cup finalist 1. FC Kaiserslautern, firmly believes that the summer will be characterized by a collective football experience. “There’s this absurd European Championship feeling that always pops up all at once. The squad nomination is now slowly starting and it’s getting stronger and stronger. And two days before the first game you’re right in the middle of it again. That’s really cool, too “It’s like that for everyone.”
The musician from Rhineland-Palatinate is not worried about the performance of the German team, as he says. “I can give the Mark Forster guarantee here: Germany will not be eliminated in the preliminary round. That’s what I stand for with my name.”
