Rapper Nicki Minaj wants to reschedule a concert that was cancelled due to her temporary arrest on Saturday. A date in June and one in July are under discussion, the 41-year-old wrote on the platform X.
The concert planned for Saturday evening in Manchester was cancelled after Minaj was detained for several hours at the airport in Amsterdam because she had cannabis in her luggage. The public prosecutor imposed a fine of 350 euros and then allowed the global star to travel on to a concert in Great Britain, reported the Dutch news agency ANP.
According to ANP, a spokesman for the Dutch border police said it was “less than 100 grams, but enough to warrant a fine.” Minaj herself reported on the incident on X, among other places, and spoke of joints. Her bodyguard explained that they belonged to him. “By the way, this is Amsterdam, where smoking weed is legal,” she wrote.
The venue in Manchester was already full when the news of the postponement came through, as a video on the website of the news channel Sky News showed. According to the report, some fans had already been waiting outside the hall since the early hours of the morning to get seats close to the stage. After a concert in Birmingham on Sunday, Minaj is expected to perform again in Manchester next Thursday.
