Group member Howard Donald knows this, of course. “We will perform many of our hits and there will be a lot of dancing,” he says in an interview about the upcoming tour. “But we will also be introducing new songs, but there shouldn’t be too many of them.” On July 4, Take That will be performing at Burg Clam: “You can expect pure fun,” promises Donald.

The “This Life Under The Stars European Tour” will take the trio Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Donald through eight countries, with 19 performances scheduled. Is that routine now or is it still exciting? “Still as exciting as it was back then,” assured Donald. “Back then” refers to the 90s, when the young men of Take That enjoyed a lot of stardom. “We appreciate what we achieved in the 1990s much more now. We like to travel. Missing the family is the downside, but we try to bring wives and children along as often as possible. We’ll probably be very tired at the end of this tour, but it’s worth it.”

Intensive training
At 56 years old, a tour like this naturally requires a certain level of fitness: “I train very intensively for about four to five weeks before the start, when rehearsals begin,” said Donald. “I swim a lot. But to be honest, on the days off between concerts I try not to do anything – apart from sleeping a lot. Standing on stage, running up and down the catwalks and dancing, that is a fitness routine in itself.”
