Miley Cyrus is not yet sure whether she wants to have children one day. She looks up to country music icon Dolly Parton as her role model.
Pop star Miley Cyrus (31) is not quite sure if she wants to become a mother. The musician admitted this. “I’m 31 now and I still don’t know if I want to have children or not,” Cyrus explained frankly, adding: “I feel like my fans are my children in a way.”
Role model Dolly Parton?
Cyrus’ godmother Dolly Parton (78) may have served as a role model for this attitude. The country music star has never had children herself. And Parton has also said that her fans are like her children, “because she didn’t have any children,” says Cyrus.
Miley Cyrus fights against traditional gender roles
In the past, the former “Hannah Montana” star had been vocal in his criticism of traditional ideas that women are expected “to populate the planet. And when that’s not part of our plan or our destiny, there’s so much condemnation and anger.”
Cyrus continued about five years ago: “If you don’t want kids, people pity you, like you’re a cold, heartless bitch who’s incapable of love… Why are we taught that love means putting yourself second and those you love first? If you love yourself, what then? Then you come first.”
