Hollywood actor Kevin Costner says he felt a protective instinct for music legend and “Bodyguard” co-star Whitney Houston. “I don’t know what it was, but we had a moment where I realized the world had a higher idea of ​​who we were, and so I went along with it,” the 69-year-old explained in the “Armchair Expert” podcast, referring to his relationship with the singer, who died in 2012. “I was her imaginary bodyguard.”

The film star explained that he “guided” the musician during the filming of “Bodyguard”. In the 1992 romantic film, Costner played bodyguard Frank Farmer, who protects pop star Rachel Marron (Houston) from a psychopath. “There was a moment when she trusted me,” Costner said of the filming. The actor, who also worked as a producer on the film, said he also stood up for Houston during the subsequent editing, as he had previously promised her.

Houston, one of the biggest stars of the 80s, was found dead in a hotel room in Beverly Hills in February 2012 at the age of 48. Costner also gave a speech at her funeral.
