Pharrell Williams is bringing his life to the big screen – in the form of a Lego biopic. He has now presented a first trailer for the work.
The US musician Pharrell Williams (51) is not only considered a music genius, but also a living style icon. At the beginning of 2024, it was announced that his eventful life would be told in a biopic – and at the artist’s request, using an animated Lego figure. In a first trailer for the playful project, which he released on June 6, it becomes clear that the offbeat concept could well work.
Life story captured “Lego brick by Lego brick”
Back in January, the planned biopic “Piece By Piece” was described as “an unparalleled cinematic experience that captures the magic and brilliance of Pharrell Williams’ creative genius, brick by brick.” It was said that the influential music producer did not want to make a traditional film about his life, but wanted to tell his story in such a way that the audience’s imagination would “run wild.” Nothing could be better suited to this than a Lego building block world of unlimited possibilities.
Animated star cast in biopic
Oscar winner Morgan Neville (56) will direct the work described as a “vivid journey through the life of cultural icon Pharrell Williams”. In addition to Williams, numerous companions of the American superstar will also be seen in the film as Lego figures, including well-known names such as Gwen Stefani (54), Kendrick Lamar (36), Justin Timberlake (43), Busta Rhymes (52), Jay-Z (54) and Snoop Dogg (52). The US theatrical release date is October 11, 2024.
