The 102-year-old has been fighting against being forgotten for years. Now Margot Friedländer graces the cover of the German “Vogue” for July and August.

The magazine wants to honor Holocaust survivor Margot Friedländer with a cover on the German “Vogue.” The cover of the double issue for July and August will show the 102-year-old in a red coat, the magazine announced on Monday. The editorial team met with Friedländer four times for a multi-page portrait and spoke with her about the horrors of National Socialism, her return to Germany and her commitment as a Holocaust survivor.

The issue’s motto is love. “The most positive person I know is on our cover in this issue,” said “Vogue” boss Kerstin Weng about Friedländer, according to a statement. “Many know her as a Holocaust survivor, but she not only survived the Nazis, but also betrayal and loss. She has every reason to be bitter, but remains open-minded and doesn’t let herself be drawn into either side.”

Friedländer is one of the few living witnesses of the persecution and murder of Jews during the Nazi era. She has already received several awards for her work against forgetting. The double issue will be available from June 22nd.
