Holocaust survivor Margot Friedländer is on the cover of “Vogue”. The magazine is being celebrated for this.
Holocaust survivor Margot Friedländer (102) is on the new cover of the July/August issue of “Vogue”. The magazine’s announcement of this was met with great enthusiasm. Presenter and author Riccardo Simonetti (31) simply wrote “How great!” on the article, reality star Evelyn Burdecki (35) and actress Susan Sideropoulos (43) added red hearts. Film star Jella Haase (31) commented: “Legendary”.
Other comments on Friedländer’s “Vogue” cover include: “She is such an incredibly great woman. And this is probably the best ‘Vogue’ cover ever” or “Wow! This is the world I want to live in. A role model for love with a clear message on the cover of @voguegermany. Bravo!!” Other users write: “The best cover with one of the greatest legends in the world. Simply great!!” Or: “Mrs. Friedländer outshines every top model. Fantastic! Thanks to Vogue De.”
“Her only maxim is love for people”
Meanwhile, “Vogue” explains in its article about Margot Friedländer: “She doesn’t let herself be drawn to one side, her only maxim is love for people. Respect for life and the responsibility of being human are Margot Friedländer’s core messages. She, who as a Holocaust survivor would have every reason to hate, stands up for love. And so the 102-year-old graces our July/August issue, which we are dedicating to precisely this topic.”
The booklet will be available from Saturday, June 22nd.
Margot Friedländer was born in Berlin in 1921. Her family was murdered in the Auschwitz concentration camp. She herself initially lived in various hiding places, was arrested in 1944 and taken to the Theresienstadt concentration camp. There she met her future husband Adolf Friedländer, whom she had previously met in Berlin. Together they survived the Holocaust and went to New York in 1946.
