If you have small children, or simply have a restless inner child, this place is for you. Winter Break and the theme park located a few kilometers from the Capital is presented as a luxury option to enjoy with the family.

The Children’s Republic is located in La Plata, a large space created in the middle of the last century with 35 buildings designed for boys and girls of approximately 10 years old. It is said that the park served as a muse for Walt Disney himself.

Opened to the public on November 26, 1951, it was conceived by Colonel Domingo Alfredo Mercante, then governor of the Province of Buenos Aires. This children’s theme park was originally designed in 1949 by the architects Jorge Lima, Alberto Cuenca and Carlos Gallo. Inspiration for its design came from classic popular tales, such as those of Hans C. Andersen, the Brothers Grimm, and legends of Mallory and Tennyson.

Was Walt Disney inspired by the Children’s Republic to create Disney World?

As legend suggests, it is said that Walt Disney may have been inspired by The Children’s Republic to develop his iconic theme park, Disneyland.. At first glance, similarities can be seen between some buildings in the original Disney park and those in The Children’s Republic.
