A quarter of a century after his breakthrough, Mickie Krause still performs regularly at Ballermann. He says he is passionate about it. But his lyrics also contribute to his success.
25 years after his first hit “Ten Naked Hairdressers”, Mickie Krause (53) is still part of the Ballermann fixtures – and in his opinion there is a simple reason for that. “You must not forget who you are doing the job for. They are the people who are standing in front of the stage. You have to do your job authentically and be credible on stage,” Krause told the German Press Agency. “If people see that you are doing your job with passion and with heart and soul, you can do the job for 100 years.”
Krause (“Go get some beer, you’re getting ugly again”) is known above all for his ambiguous and humorous lyrics. “Our songs are just funny. Sure, “Layla” is a great hit, but it’s not necessarily funny. I think that’s what sets me apart, that my songs also have this comedic aspect.”
The musician from Wettringen in Münsterland landed what was probably the first big Ballermann hit with his “Friseusen” song. It was released on June 25, 1999.
