Is Kevin Costner newly in love? The actor has responded to the rumors and revealed how they came about.
Kevin Costner (69) and singer Jewel (50) are not a couple. The actor revealed that he and the musician have a purely platonic relationship. Stern asked the Oscar winner whether he was in love at the moment and noted that he had heard “rumors” about him and the “Foolish Games” interpreter.
Costner then explained: “Jewel and I are friends. We have never dated.” He clarified: “I don’t want these rumors to destroy our friendship, because that’s what we have. She is special to me.” The “Yellowstone” star apparently knows where the rumors come from. He said that he had been invited by entrepreneur Richard Branson (73) to a charity event on his private island Necker Island. He flew there on a plane with Jewel, “Harry Potter” star Emma Watson (34) and seven other people “who are not celebrities.”
“We have a friendship”
Jewel, Watson and he had “had some great conversations,” Costner said, adding: “I don’t want the press to ruin it for us.” Jewel is “so smart and has been through a lot herself, we have a friendship. We don’t have a romance and we’re not together,” Costner continued. “She’s beautiful and intelligent enough for all of those things. It just never happened with us,” the 69-year-old explained. “She’s everything you could imagine, but it just didn’t happen.”
The Hollywood star further revealed to Howard Stern that even his younger children – Cayden (17), Hayes (15) and Grace (14) – had questioned him about the alleged relationship with Jewel. The children come from his marriage to Christine Baumgartner (50). She filed for divorce in May 2023 after 18 years of marriage, which was finalized in February 2024.
Kevin Costner is the father of seven children in total. From his first marriage to Cindy Costner (67) he has two daughters and a son, who were born between 1984 and 1988. From another relationship he has a son, who was born in 1996.
Jewel was married to rodeo champion Ty Murray (54) from 2008 to 2014. They have a twelve-year-old son together.
