They provide emotional support, have to be very understanding and often put their own lives aside to be there for their husband. Often enough, they leave friends and family behind when they change clubs: the wives of football players.
Kai Havertz once said in an interview on Kai Pflaume’s YouTube channel: “Sophia gave up her life for me, so to speak. People always think that players’ wives have a great life, but they often leave their friends and family behind and are often alone. I just have my teammates and get to know a lot of people and she is alone here.”
A reason to take a closer look at these partners in the picture gallery above. But not all women on the German national team appear in public. The following three players are taken, but there is almost nothing to find out about their relationships:
- Antonio Rüdiger (defense/Real Madrid) has two children, a wife named Laura, it is said, and is said to have been married to her since summer 2019.
- Nico Schlotterbeck (defense/Borussia Dortmund) also keeps his family completely out of the public eye. He is said to have a girlfriend called Sabrina and a child with her, probably since 2023, according to the magazine “Männersache”.
- Pascal Groß (midfield/ Brighton & Hove Albion) is married to Sina Groß, whom he is said to have met in Ingolstadt. Since Groß is not on social media and keeps his family, which according to Wikipedia includes a son, a daughter and a dog, out of the public eye, not much is known about the footballer’s private life.
- Emre Can (midfielder/Borussia Dortmund) also keeps his private life out of the public eye. However, he is said to have married in Istanbul last year, as “Bild” reported, citing photos on social networks.

- Chris Führich (midfield/ VfB Stuttgart)
