Kim Gloss: Open words about her brain surgery

Kim Gloss had been diagnosed with a brain tumor for a year now. Now she spoke openly about the diagnosis for the first time.

Kim Gloss (31) has had a difficult few weeks. The singer and influencer had to undergo surgery on her head due to a brain tumor, as she herself revealed to her fans via Instagram at the beginning of June. She answered questions in detail and chatted openly about her illness and the diagnosis. She found out about her tumor a year ago, but initially did not want to make it public: “I kept it to myself for a long time, in fact not even my closest friends knew.”

The diagnosis was made after a sports accident when a dumbbell fell on her face during training. She was shocked in hospital: “And of course a CT scan was done to rule out brain bleeding and then they said there was something abnormal.” A neurologist was then called in, who explained everything to her: “You have a meningioma!” This is a benign, slow-growing tumor. After the diagnosis, she first called her mom, not her husband. She wanted to tell him in person.

Kim Gloss: “I want it removed immediately!”

After that, she changed her life a bit, did more exercise and ate healthier. Nevertheless, she struggled with dizzy spells: “So I went for another MRI and it had grown minimally. Really minimally. But they said that it was so close to one of the most important veins and that it should be removed as quickly as possible.” If she had decided against the procedure, there would have been a risk of thrombosis – and that the tumor would have become inoperable because it would have continued to grow “in any case”.

Kim Gloss had the choice: “I was told: ‘You decide at the end of the day, you are young. But we cannot say what will happen in a few months. Surgery: yes or no?’ She decided to have the operation, also with her children in mind: “My youngest is not even two. I have children at home. A thousand thoughts buzzing around. But it was clear to me from the start: I want it removed immediately!” Nevertheless, she also had to fight fear. “When I put my little one to bed, I cried,” Gloss revealed, touched.

She lived the day of her operation as if it were her last. She also perceived the air and the colors of the leaves differently than before. Now she is on the road to recovery: “It opened my eyes and showed me how precious life is.”
