Clumsy fiddling around all night long – that’s what my sex nightmare looks like. And that’s how I saw the sex life of my girlfriend, who has very young lovers after her break-up. But she proved me wrong.

I recently met a friend for lunch who had just separated. She beamed at me. “It was a wild weekend,” she said with a grin. But more on that later. She had separated and it was almost a typical story. There was no sex anymore. She was in the mood, but not for him. “You know, when I come home and there are still dishes piled up in the sink and laundry lying around, even though he’s working from home, it turns me off.”
Washing up, buying the right clothes for the child, tidying up, everything was supposed to be her job. But she didn’t get any appreciation for it. “I find that unsexy,” she says. Couples therapy and sex coaching followed, but all attempts to save the relationship – also because of the child – failed. In the meantime, she made a corporate career and bought a condo, while everything stagnated for him. Of course, that made the situation worse.
