It’s about love, betrayal and heroism: The Karl May Games in Bad Segeberg have begun. Numerous well-known actors will be appearing on the open-air stage for “Winnetou II – Ribanna and Old Firehand”.
The Karl May Games in Bad Segeberg started their 71st season on Saturday evening with a furious spectacle of action, love, betrayal and heroism. “Winnetou II – Ribanna and Old Firehand” is the only play by Karl May in which Winnetou (Alexander Klaws) is allowed to fall in love. But Ribanna (Sila Sahin) has to choose between the Apache chief and his friend Old Firehand (Jan Hartmann).
This does not make the joint fight against the arch-villain Emery Forster (Nick Wilder) in front of an elaborate backdrop with the western town of New Venango, a soldier’s fort, the tent village of the Assiniboine and the hut of Old Firehands built high into the rocks any easier. Evil is successful, and things are always tight for the heroes. But the audience in Bad Segeberg certainly knows that things never end well for the villains in Karl May.
Until September 8th, 72 performances will be given under the direction of Nicolas König. Last year, more than 430,000 spectators came to the open-air theater at Kalkberg in Bad Segeberg.
