“Inside Out 2” is a worldwide success. The Pixar hit has joined the billion-dollar film club in record time – no other animated film has ever achieved this so quickly.
“Inside Out 2” follows the hit “Barbie”: The animated film from the successful Pixar studio about the character Riley has broken the billion dollar mark. 19 days after its cinema release in mid-June, “Inside Out 2” has already grossed over a billion dollars worldwide, the Disney Group announced. This is a record time for an animated film, it added. “Inside Out 2” is also the first film this year to break the billion dollar barrier at the worldwide box office.
The last to do so was “Barbie”. Greta Gerwig’s garish satire about the iconic doll Barbie (Margot Robbie) and friend Ken (Ryan Gosling) was the biggest box office hit of 2023, grossing around $1.45 billion worldwide.
Nine years after the success of the animated film “Inside Out” about the adventures and emotions in the brain of the eleven-year-old girl Riley, Pixar is continuing the story of the now 13-year-old teenager. The already familiar embodiments of joy, sorrow, fear, anger and disgust are joined by new feelings such as doubt, envy, boredom and lack of motivation. The first part about the emotions brought to life won the Oscar for the best animated feature film. “Inside Out” has grossed around 858 million dollars since its cinema release in 2015.
