Television: Sport1 abolishes nightly sex films

The “Sexy Sport Clips” have brought Sport1 advertising revenue at night for many years. Now it’s over.

The TV station Sport1 will no longer broadcast erotic programs at night. The “program offensive” will take effect from this week, the channel from Ismaning in Bavaria announced. The industry service “dwdl.de” also reported. For many years, “Sexy Sport Clips” were shown in the night slot, interrupted by telephone sex advertisements.

That is now a thing of the past with the start of the new TV season. According to the announcement, the free-to-air broadcaster has acquired a number of new docutainment formats. These include the formats “Highway Cops” and “Highway Patrol”, the series “Neighbourhood Blues” produced for the BBC, the series “Cops – Criminals in Sight” as well as “Border Patrol – Cuba”, “Border Patrol – Latin America” and “Border Patrol – Rome”.

The formats will be broadcast both during the day and at night. “Sport1 will therefore redesign its previous night broadcasting schedule accordingly,” said the broadcaster. Sport1 manager Christian Madlindl explained: “In addition to our existing sports offering, we are expanding our entertainment portfolio with strong docutainment programs during the day and night, as already announced.”
