MaXXXinethe long-awaited final entry in the slasher trilogy that brings together the writer and director Ti West and the actress Mia Goth It hit theaters in the United States and is being praised by critics, particularly by Stephen King.
In 2022 it was launched “X” with Goth in a double role, as Maxine a young woman who survives a massacre at the hands of Pearl (also played by her). The next film was precisely “Pearl”a trip to the past telling the origin story of this character.

Stephen Kingalways hyperactive on social media when it comes to rating series and films, although on this occasion, after having seen it in a special screening, he was as brief as he was forceful, simply calling it “terrific.”
At the moment, MaXXXine has a rating of 78 out of 100 from the specialized press and an 83 from viewers on the well-known website Rotten Tomatoes.
Compared to the previous films, X received an excellent 94 from critics and a 75 from the public; and as for Pearl, which also won the award for best director and actress at Sitges 2022, an even better average considering the 92 percent from critics and 83 percent from spectators.
What is MaXXXine about?
In the new and definitive installment, Goth reprises her role as Maxine, the sole survivor of the bloody murders of the X-rated film on an isolated Texas farm, while a small crew and actors were filming a porn film in 1979. Determined to turn the page and also to succeed in the world of cinema, the action takes place a few years later, in the early 80s, with Maxine determined to make a place for herself in the industry. But, first she must agree to work in adult films. And what she did not count on is that danger and death seem to follow her wherever she goes, and the new threat is that of a serial killer.
MaXXXine rounds out the cast with Elizabeth Debicki, Moses Sumney, Michelle Monaghan, Bobby Cannavale, Lily Collins, Halsey, Giancarlo Esposito and the aforementioned Kevin Bacon. MaXXXine is produced by A24, Jacob Jaffke, West, Goth, Kevin Turen and Harrison Kreiss.
