Netflix is planning the new talent show “Building The Band”. It will feature a prominent cast including Nicole Scherzinger and AJ McLean.
Nicole Scherzinger (46) apparently has a new job as a judge: How will she participate in the show, which is to be hosted by Backstreet Boys star AJ McLean (46). This would put her in competition with her former “X Factor” boss Simon Cowell (64), who is looking for a new boy band for the streaming service.
“Nicole is a big coup for Netflix”
In Scherzinger’s reality series, 50 candidates are tasked with working together and forming a group – without ever meeting each other in person. Cowell’s Netflix project is called “The Midas Touch”. However, the response to the castings was so subdued that the first two dates had to be cancelled. Netflix is now reportedly hoping for more success from Nicole Scherzinger. An insider told the “Sun”: “Nicole is a big coup for Netflix as she has appeared on so many talent shows in the UK and US in the past and is therefore synonymous with the genre. This shows how serious the streamer’s bosses are about competing with the big broadcasters.”
The former singer of the Pussycat Dolls is an accomplished judge. In autumn 2011, she was part of the first season of the American version of the talent show “The X Factor”, where she sat on the jury alongside Simon Cowell. The following year, she switched to the British version. In 2016 and 2017, she sat on the jury again with Cowell, and both were also on “X Factor: Celebrity” in 2019. Since her departure, the franchise has been discontinued in the UK, but continues to do very well in the US and other countries.
The two jurors are still close friends; he visited her during her musical performance of “Sunset Boulevard.” The play will also be on Broadway in the fall: previews at the St. James Theater begin on September 28.
